Lowe, Instructional Director for Social Studies
Candy Lowe, who has 30 years of teaching
experience, is the Social Studies Student Achievement
Specialist for Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools.
In addition to her role as Social Studies Resource
Specialist, Mrs. Lowe also serves as the administrator
at Massie Heritage Center. As administrator at Massie,
she works closely with the Heritage Education teachers
in developing Heritage Education and Character Education
programs, as well as overseeing the preservation of
this historic site.

Carol
Stalvey, Heritage Education Teacher
One of Massie’s Heritage Education teachers,
Carol Stalvey has 26 years of experience at the elementary
level. In addition to conducting programs for school
groups, she assists with professional development
workshops and seminars.

Sandee Lipsitz, Administrative Assistant
When you call to schedule a visit to Massie, you are most likely going to talk to our friendly, and efficient scheduler, Sandee Lipsitz. She will help you work out the details of your trip to make it a great experience for all involved. Sandee graduated from Tulane University with a B.A. in English and Art History.

Chris Mercer, Social Studies Specialist
Chris Mercer is the Social Studies Specialist for the Savannah Chatham County Public School System. Chris graduated with a B.S. Degree in education from SUNY Cortland, has a master’s in History from Armstrong-Atlantic University, and an Ed.S. Degree from Lesley University. He has a teaching background at both the elementary and high school levels and has been with the school system since 1994.

Deborah Hargroves, Technology Specialist
After serving the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools in the field of instructional technology for many years, Deborah Hargroves joined our staff in August of 2006 to serve as Massie's technology specialist and webmaster, as well as to conduct programs for students and teachers. She is a graduate of Armstrong State College, the Univeristy of Georgia, and Georgia State University. In addition to her duties here at Massie, Ms. Hargroves also conducts professional development workshops at educational technology conferences throughout the country.

Diane
Jenkins, Chief Custodian
Ms. Jenkins has served as custodian at Massie for
over ten years. She assists in many operations of
the center. A lifelong resident of Savannah, Ms. Jenkins
attended Groves High School.
