Classical Connections

house modelArchitectural Heritage shows the original architectural styles in the history of Western Civilization, and places them in context with Savannah's architectural treasures. On the north wall, you will see a photograph illustrating every style of architecture to be found in Savannah, beginning with early Colonial dwellings and continuing viaductthrough more contemporary styles. The most ancient artifact in this exhibit, on long-term loan from the Telfair Arts Academy, is the composite capital dating from circa 300 BC. It was found with three others at the docks of the Savannah River, having been shipped as ballast on a ship from the Middle East. Visit Massie to explore this teaching installation.
